"Ask Chat" is a very short linear visual novel exploring some thoughts around outsourcing of thinking to chatbots. Listen in on a conversation that very quickly deteriorates as two old friends try to catch-up, and someone rudely interrupts. Made as a university project in Construct 3.

The visuals were created in Heavypaint, most of the images being the painting progress shown in reverse, with the exception of the last image. The monster design was a late addition to this work, as the original concept was to end simply with both the conversation and visuals lessening in quality, which might have been more subtle but probably also more boring. I love monster designs and any chance i get, i will throw a creature in there to spice things up. In this work, the monstrous presence is a very over the top, (not meant to be taken seriously) representation of gen-ai and the  "AI apocalypse" so many articles are saying is coming to get us.

This is not intended to be mean spirited against people who do use chatbots, rather is intended to be more anti gen-ai companies, using really over the top symbolism and satire-ish writing. This work is mostly inspired by the business model of creating codependency in users to maximize time used with their chatbots, as well as a few anecdotal stories from people who use chatbots that were used when i was writing the little dialogue there is in this work.
